Norma J.H. Davis has practiced law for 25 years. She began her career as an associate at William D. Bell & Associates. Subsequently, she served for two years as a Staff Attorney and two years as a Law Clerk at the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. At the Court of Appeals, she honed her legal research and writing, as well as her presentation skills.
In 1987 Norma established her law practice focused on Juvenile, Domestic Relations, Litigation, Probate and Estate Planning, and Transactional Law. While she built her practice, she worked part time as an Attorney-Guardian Ad Litem for ProKids, where she zealously represented the best interest of abused, neglected and dependent children. She tried hundreds of cases and accessed systems that could best provide the services that the children needed. As an Attorney-Guardian Ad Litem, Norma worked with people from all walks of life and perfected her person to person skills.
From 1994 to 1996, Norma served as Director of the Children’s Law Clinic, Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University. She taught the practice clinic and supervised student practice in Northern Kentucky courts, and administered the program. After leaving Chase, Norma refocused her attention on private practice.
During 2001 and 2002, Norma spent a busy two years as President of the Cincinnati NAACP where she directed all local activities of the local branch. After leaving the NAACP, Norma served for over three years as an Assistant Hamilton County Public Defender where she defended in hundreds of criminal cases. She continues to practice law.
Norma is a proven community leader. She currently serves as a Cincinnati Bar Association Trustee, Families Forward Director, Xavier University President’s Advisory Council Member, Capital Campaign Committee Chair at her church, and as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Sigma Omega Chapter. She previously served as a Co-Chair of the Police Community Relations-Justice Team of Community Action Now (C.A.N.), United Way/ Community Chest Trustee, 4C President, Inroads Director, Leadership Cincinnati and a YWCA Career Women of Achievement.
Norma has a B.S. degree from Tuskegee University and attended Law School at the Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati. She received her law degree from the University of Cincinnati. Norma is licensed in Ohio and Kentucky, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Norma and her husband Wayne live in North Avondale.
